Paul in PicturesReunion founder/bassist Paul Hudspeth wasn't always smiling, as some early shots attest. But we can confidently state he's been beaming at least since 1973.
HOur Paul, circa late 1960s, rehearsing with John and Tommy at his house... HAll that rehearsing led to the first-ever Reunion gig in the summer of 1971... Handsome and well-coiffed in a group photo in 1973.F
GThe hair! Hey, the Seventies demanded it. Specifically, these photos were taken at UT's drunken dive The Bucket, left, and North Austin's inebriated enclave, The Barn.

Still smiling in the 2000s, Paul remains Da Man! EPlaying a cool Austin night at Cedar Street and a warm Lake Travis evening at The Oasis...H
HWhether dressed for the ball...

The double bass was big and heavy. Musicians wanted a smaller and lighter instrument. Inventors tried to think of ways of building a smaller and lighter bass instrument. One of these inventors was a man named Leo Fender in the United States. Leo Fender invented the bass guitar in the 1950s, using many parts that are similar to the parts of an electric guitar. Leo Fender called the instrument the "Fender Precision Bass". "Precision" came from the fact that frets allowed musicians to play precise notes, instead of relying on pitch to play them precisely.
